Baby & I on vacation!

Greetings from the world travelers!!!

(Onesie made with love by Aunt Nicole!)

Baby & I have had a great few days of vacation already!

Friday: The day began very early. My train to Frankfurt was scheduled to leave at 6:14. I ordered a taxi for 5:45 and set my alarm for 4:30 so that I could get up, shower, and pack the rest of my things without rushing. Unfortunately, I woke up already at 3:30 and couldn't go back to sleep. Oh well. Anyway, we didn't have any problems and arrived at the Frankfurt airport shortly after 8:00. I checked in, had breakfast, and walked around the airport. Time went by faster than I expected. The gate ended up being further away than I expected, so by the time I arrived, everyone was already boarding.

We were late heading out because loading took longer than expected, but ended up landing in Charlotte only about 30 minutes later than scheduled. The flight itself was 9.5 hours and good. We had a little bit of turbulence along the way, but nothing unusual. I sat on the aisle in the middle section. Fortunately, the flight was not completely full, and the 2 seats in the middle were empty. That meant I could stretch out a little - although I still wasn't able to sleep at all. Occasionally, baby would poke me - which was reassuring. The food was actually good (I ate & drank everything they offered), but for my return flight, I'm definitely going to pack more snacks. :)

Nicole picked us up from the airport. We spent the evening at home relaxing. I had a really nice welcome basket on my bed when I arrived.

Since I had been up almost 24 hours, I went to bed at 9:00pm.

Saturday: Of course, I woke up at 3:30 (must be some kind of magic time). I read for about 1.5 hours and could actually fall back asleep for a few hours. Nicole & I had plans to meet my roommate and dear friend from college, Jessica. She also lives in North Carolina and we met about halfway for lunch. Nicole & Jess had secretly planned a mini baby shower and totally surprised me with balloons, presents, and a cake. Really sweet!

We spent the entire afternoon and evening together. Did some shopping and then got ourselves manicures and pedicures.

Sunday: Nicole, Bryan, and I went out for brunch. After that, Nicole and I spent the entire day shopping again. I was successful and found a new camera and 2 maternity pants. When we got home, we spent another relaxing evening at home.

Monday: Nicole had the day off and for the last day of my visit with them, we decided to do: nothing - which was nice. We left for the airport at 4:00 and my flight to Pittsburgh was at 6:00. Everything was on time. While boarding the plane, we were already told that the overhead cabins were full, so I had to leave my hand luggage to check. No problem. The funny thing was, we had to wait quite a while for the luggage in general. When the suitcases finally started coming, my big one was actually the very first, but then the hand luggage took a while. Go figure. Anyway, we made it home ok and all went to bed around 11:00. We don't have any big plans for the next few days yet. We'll see how the weather is (more snow predicted today and tomorrow). I'm just enjoying doing nothing.
