Monthly appointment and sneak peak of baby's room

It's crazy how fast the last 4 weeks have passed! I think it REALLY helped that 2 1/2 of those were vacation time. :)

When I got to Bleialf on Friday, Guenni was waiting for me - as well as this:

:)

Anyway, I had my monthly doctor's appointment yesterday. It was "only" a normal one with all of the usual tests/checks, but everything was good. I heard baby's heartbeat again - about 150 beats per minute. Starting with my next visit in 4 weeks (March 29th), I will be hooked up to a cardiotocograph machine at every visit to record baby's heartbeat. That should be really interesting. As if that wasn't going to be exciting enough, we have our next ultrasound at that visit too! I can't wait to see baby again!!! Recently, I've seen AMAZING 3-D ultrasound pictures from two people I know. Hopefully we'll get some as well. Since Guenni and I now also own a cool FLIP video camera, I'm going to ask if we can film at least part of the ultrasound. We'll see. Stay tuned!

*By the way baby is saying hi to all of you as I'm typing this. I'm going to try to get a video of baby squirming sometime, but the movements are usually so random that I'm never fast enough to grab my camera - or when I do, baby gets camera-shy all of a sudden!

Some of you have asked to see pictures of baby's room. It might not look like much to all of you yet, but a lot happened while baby and I were on vacation! The biggest change:

We have a new doorway in our apartment!

(This used to be just a wall and the little hallway back there is new too.

(Getting closer...)

Turning the corner of the new little hallway...
Door on the left: Storage room and possible future little computer room/office
Door on the right: Baby's room!

(Looking into baby's room from the doorway.)

As you can see, the wallpaper is not up yet, but we can pick it up this week. Maybe we'll start hanging it this coming weekend - if Guenni doesn't start without me.

I'll post more pictures of the entire room once it looks more colorful.

Oh yes, I almost forgot! I start birth preparation classes tomorrow night. They are every Wednesday in the nearby hospital in the Eifel, which means that I will be making an extra trip back and forth between Bonn and Bleialf every week now. At least I can literally count down the weeks (only seven!) that I have to do this. I'm not looking forward to the extra train trips and getting up super early on Mondays and Thursdays now, but it does mean that I get to see Guenni during the week - which he likes as well. :) Not sure what to expect from the classes. I'll be sure to report.

  1. cool! thanks! I'm just curious: what are the walls made of? are those big blocks with some sort of filling in the middle of them? I only ask b/c I'm so used to seeing drywall and that's no drywall :)

  2. Hey Jess!
Actually, it's plasterboard with caulk in between. Since the room wasn't insolated, Guenni first put up styrofoam and then covered everything with these boards. We can now directly paint them and put wallpaper up. The little hallway was also built that way. Thank goodness for my handyman! :)
