Just a quick update to say that we had an interesting day, including a doctor's visit, and all is well!
I spent several hours running around today, but it wasn't too stressful and I got some important things accomplished. One of the best things I did was go to the hospital to introduce myself. There are three midwives that work there. I already knew one of them from my birth preparation class, and today I met one of the other two. It was very nice. She showed me everything, answered my questions, and we even filled out some paperwork already and had a spontaneous acupuncture session! I had heard that acupuncture is offered, but I hadn't really given it much thought. However, she explained that it is usually done once a week starting about 4 weeks before the due date and that it has been proven to shorten labor, soften the cervix, and reduce pain. Those seemed like good arguments to me! At least it's worth a try... I had my first session today, and my next one is on Saturday. Three needles were placed in each of my calves, and I just got to relax for 20 minutes. It was weird at first, but didn't hurt. Another girl from my class also came while I was there, and we will now have our sessions together. :)
I also had a doctor's appointment this afternoon. The usual. Since I've been taking an iron supplement for a few weeks now because it was low a few weeks ago, they tested again today and it was very good! Everything else was good too, but at my last appointment, they did a GBS-Screening (Group B streptococcus bacteria screening), and it came back slightly positive. I was told it's nothing I should worry about, but it does mean that I will receive antibiotics during delivery as a precautionary measurement.

We were also hooked up to the CTG again, and this time, it was kind of funny. Baby was sleeping (surprise, surprise) during the first 10 minutes or so. When the assistant came in a saw that, she said, "Looks like we need to wake somebody up". She came over and literally shook my belly to wake baby up. I didn't think it worked for the first minute or so, but then baby began to wiggle. The heartbeat went up, down, up, down... Apparently, that's what they like to see though! Haha!
During the normal examination, I asked the doctor if the expected due date is still the same since baby was measuring large at the last visit. She said that they will do another ultrasound at my next visit (next Friday, May 21st) to see how large baby really is. Good for us - we get to see the wiggler again! :) I just hope baby is not really, truly HUGE!
Ah yes, good news: Baby's head is already low and tight in the pelvis, so I don't have anything to worry about if my water breaks now.
I also happened to run into one of Guenni's aunts that I hadn't seen in quite a while. One of her comments to me was, "You're not really as huge as everybody has been saying." Hmmm... is that a compliment?!? ;)
With these appointments and some other shopping, the day was over very quickly. I still feel like time is just flying by...
Weekly update in a few days!
